Books I've Read: Interesting, informative, uplifting, or terrifying? You decide
If you're looking for thought-provoking books, here's my partial list. Bookmark and check back often — I'll be adding to it and linking to more complete reviews.
I have read a lot of books over the years, and I thought I’d share a running but partial list here. There’s no way this could ever be exhaustive, but I’ll try to make sure I hit the highlights, at least. I’ll write reviews for some of these books, and edit this page to link to them. You can even share your book suggestions in the comments.
Just because I’ve read it doesn’t mean I agree with it
I don’t limit myself to reading authors that share my own ideology or world view. You’ll find radically secular authors like Yuval Noah Harari here, as well as Biblical apologetics scholars like William Lane Craig. I think it’s good to challenge ourselves with other material, as long as our critical thinking faculties are strong enough to withstand horrible and sometimes seductive ideas from time to time. The value of that is in understanding what others think and why. I’ll learn something new in the process, and I can better influence others if I understand their thinking.
I do tend to read non-fiction, but there are a few notable exceptions in the list. Some of my all-time favorites are noted with the 👉🏻 emoji. This is usually (not always) determined by whether I’ve found it worth reading more than once.
