Jesus Revolution was groovy in all the best ways
I went to an Early Access viewing of Jesus Revolution. Here's my take on the movie and the surprising cultural relevancy of a movement that peaked in 1972.
The Jesus Revolution movie was well-made and excellently told. While it contains evangelistic themes, it’s not in a preachy way. Besides, an evangelistic message is part of the Christian ethos. It’s hard to tell a fair story about a Christian movement without it.
The film should be enjoyable even for those who are skeptical of the faith and might even help them better understand their Christian friends and loved ones. Whether one agrees with the theology of the movie or not, the historical movement it portrays had an undeniable impact on the culture we live in today. Our history adds color to the world regardless of worldview.
Everyone will find pieces of the movie that resonate with their life experiences because God himself resonates with the human heart. We were created to love as God loves, and the hippie culture painted that truth in broad strokes. The Jesus Movement colored in the missing details.
