Media lies are a feature not a bug

Given revelations that our intelligence agencies are collaborating with corporate media, it’s time we rip the bandaid off. Their lies were the point all along.

We’ve been played. We felt it intuitively for years. Something wasn’t right about the news. For decades it seemed scripted, like it was written for an agenda that didn’t quite align with ours. Middle class American values were mocked as if we were in the minority. We knew we weren’t. But we were gaslit to make us feel like we were.

The term “silent majority” was invented to express this conflict between what we knew and what we were told. We knew we were the majority, but we were told we weren’t. The problem then, we assumed, was that we were too silent. So we spoke up, and learned how to do some activism. But it was never enough to escape the tsunami of lies spewing from the fake news media.

As mainstream America started to wake up to this reality in the late ‘80s, Rush Limbaugh gave national voice to what we intuitively knew.
